Dark Music Awards 2013 Final Results: HERE
Agrypnie - Aetas Cineris: Eight epic tracks on this album have still that typical black metal spirit from which the band emerged, but there is much, really much more and you'll get aware of this in the first few seconds of the opener "Trümmer/Aetas Cineris". Each riff, melody, in short the whole album has kind of melancholy in it, somehow it's like a scream of repressed pain. Read a review HERE. Links: Website, Facebook
Kirlian Camera - Black Summer Choirs: The most ambitious album that Italian group recorded until now. Charismatic singer Elena Alice Fossi and her company did a perfect fusion of fragile tension, melancholy gloom, magnificent pop moments, cinematic soundscapes and powerful electronics… an album that draws you in and captivate you from the start. Rotting Christ - Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy: It is great to hear some bands that mature over the years, don’t get repetitive, but have a clean, recognizable sound. It’s what Rotting Christ accomplished over the years. If you know their music and hear Kata somewhere out there, you’re going to know instantly it’s Rotting. But if you’re going to put Kata on you’re going to enjoy a whole new chapter in their book – epic, deep, powerful and mesmerizing. Read a review HERE. Links: Website, Facebook
Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of Shadows: Poetica (All Beauty Sleeps): An album crafted around the work of Edgar Allan Poe, embraced with Anna-Varney Cantodea's unique music and hypnotic vocals. There's no need to say that Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of Shadows is one of the all time gothic highlights. Poetica (All Beauty Sleeps) is one of the most melancholic and dark things that Anna ever did. An absolute beauty! Links: Website, Facebook
The Vision Bleak - Witching Hour: Witching Hour is one of the strongest albums that Ulf Theodor Schwadorf and Allen B. Konstanz ever did and shows a slight comeback to their glorious days when their debut album The Deathship Has A New Captain was released. Witching Hour is an obscure journey that should give them a very deserved place among the elite. Read a review HERE. Links: Website, Facebook
Todtgelichter - Apnoe: Todtgelichter have signalized that they are on a new musical path with Angst, but such a huge change really wasn't expected. Many bands have tried with those turnarounds, but hardly anyone succeeded in first try, believe me that these Germans have. Apnoe, Todtgelichter's fourth album is a masterpiece by all means, but yet an album that got most varied responses in 2013. Read a review HERE. Links: Website, Facebook
Vulture Industries - The Tower: One of the most extraordinary bands in the avant-garde department has served us another dynamic, a bit theatrical and coherent album. The Tower sounds just as eccentric and deranged as it should, yet has its fair share of smoothness. This is how avant-garde should be done. Links: Website, Facebook
