Nailgun - Founded back in 2008, consists of six members. In their biography they say there is no direct sub genre of metal where you can place them. To me, that is really positive! I like it when bands have the courage to experiment with more than one or two different kinds of style and are widely influenced. If you do it with finesse. These guys do. Absolutely!

Their second album, New World Chaos  is a 10 (11 including the intro song) track album. This is the kind of album you need to listen to more than once, to get it. When you do, it is good stuff, trust me!  At the first couple of listenings, I got a flashback from my teen years, when I listened a lot to the Swedish metal band Lake Of Tears. The vocals has the same depth as they do, and the dark riffs reminds me of them. I can also taste some Morgana Lefay in these guys, and that is truly not a bad thing!

Starting off with a progressive and kind of epic intro song, Nailgun then moves on with "Darkest Hour", which instantly picks up even more progressive tunes. The song is pretty straight forward and I love the choruses. The emotional "Abyss Of Shadows" is showing off with a fabulous intro, giving me the goose bumps. The guitar melodies are eating their way into my skin. It continues in mid tempo with melancholic chords and powerful riffs. "Abyss Of Shadows" is one of the highlights on the album! "Change Of Seasons" adds some more energetic guitars to the concept. Here, I sense both thrashy loops and more power and aggression. My absolute favourite on New World Chaos is the final song; "You Are Everything". The intro, a heartbeat, and then a guitar solo gets me very emotional. Here, the vocal performances are excellent, and according to me, this is where they find it´s peak.

No matter what you put your soul into, with the goal of reaching higher, you need feedback to continue getting better. One wish I could have for Nailgun, is a bit more variety in the vocals. Don´t get me wrong, they are really great, but I´d like to add a pinch of either more attitude in some of the songs, or some totally clean parts (like the chorus in the final song). I'm pretty sure that these vocalists can do this! One thing these guys have got totally right, is to start almost every song with an intro that makes you want more. They make you exited in what´s coming! This album has a lot of thrashy riffing, giving the songs some attitude, which along with the melodic parts gives a complete experience if you want your metal to be interesting and progressive. I hope to hear more from Nailgun! Final judgement: I LIKE THIS!
