Even if I'm not such a huge fan of electronic and EBM music it's always a pleasure to give a listen to releases where legendary Bruno Kramm (Das Ich) put his fingers on, on this album he did the mastering and album came out through his label Danse Macabre Rebords. This is my first encounter with German duo Stereomotion who already released three albums before. And what we got here is a pretty decent electronic/EBM release with some nice gothic ambiances. It's sure that Stereomotions music is not meant for your relaxation, but to be played in some dark clubs full of smoke and fog where strobe lights are leading you to insanity.
After the heavy, almost martial industrial intro we get immersed in a very decadent fuse of melancholic EBM beats, interesting samples, distorted sounds and some unlikely used sound effects. Stereomotion are not discovering hot water after all in here, but mostly stick to approved formula that seems to be very popular these days in German spoken countries. Beside the typical danceable tracks that didn't impress me so much, Days Of Faith includes some very atmospheric, dark, gothy, melancholic tracks like is the title track "Days Of Faith" with a very nice melodic line that goes well together with Florians linear, yet obscure vocal style. Then catchy, well flowing rhytm of "Leave It All Behind" won't get out of your mind for a long time, quite addictive. Pumping bass, figured out piano touches, industrial elements, pop melodies and gloomy synths do the job, also some female and male spoken sentences and vocal samples give some dynamics to otherwise non-dynamic, too much linear singing, and with this I don't mean that vocals are bad, contrary, the effect used to implement Florians voice is great. Slow paced "Rebellion Of Dreams" must be the darkest thing up here, great synths make such an obscure ambiance. Use of distorted guitar in "The Voice Of Freedom" is a proof that details matter and this album has lots of interesting details that are there to be discovered if you give it a careful listen. The highlight of Days Of Faith is in my opinion electro ballad "Unbreakable" with such an outstanding nostalgic dreamy vibe.
The rest of the album doesn't reach the heights of before mentioned tracks, but yet it could appeal to all those who prefer danceable rhytms with a hint. Album comes as a nice digipack edition with an excellent production done by bands second half Christian Coburger. Certainly this is a good effort and Days Of Faith is an album that shouldn't be missed by fans of the genre as it gives some freshness to otherwise rather boring electro/industrial/EBM scene.
