The legendary drummer Paul Gilmartin is back with a brand new band called The Society. Paul is a well known name in the post-punk scene, mostly because he was member of the cult British band The Danse Society in the early 80s and left the band in January 2014. Now he returns to the scene with his new band named, guess what, The Society. This new band of his is bearing the true musical essence and the legacy that he adopted through the years. The debut single, "Tears", was just released and it really shows Gilmartin's new act as a post-punk band of excellent quality. Beside Gilmartin behind the drums, the line-up of The Society is formed by Jonathan Cridford (vocals), Elliot Wheeler (guitar), Ade Clarke (bass) and Darran Guy (synth).

When I heard the music my first impression was that this is excellent! The quality and experience of the members is undeniable. You can feel the claw and the passion. The singer is in my point of view very interesting and differential from what we are used in post-punk. After seeing the promo video, I was sure that Paul Gilmartin was right in choosing his partners and especially in choosing the singer. Jonathan Cridford with his sweet, kind of a "lost boy" voice, plus the theatrical performance that expresses the feeling of music in his body language is perfect. Congrats for that, I'm seeing a great potential and I’m looking forward for a stylish post-punk album from The Society in the near future.
