Gnosis is the fourth album from the Belgian symphonic black metallers Saille and is set to be released on 13th March by the label Code666. Saille brings with this new offering pure fascination, it captures and hold one's attention from the beginning until the end of the journey. Gnosis is a concept album which explores the Promethean ideal along with its Luciferian counterpart.
Saille comes along since 2008, their debut album named Irreversible Decay was released in March 2011 by the same label. A nice start, yet in "construction" and due that sounded a bit crude for those more radical. The second album, Ritu, had a much more obscure presence and Saille's third album Eldritch, released in 2014, had a very rich concept.
Saille has been building a solid career since its inception, it is undeniable the complete dedication and immersion of its members into this beautiful project as whole. Gnosis was mixed and mastered at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland by the Wieslawscy brothers (Behemoth, Decapitated, Vader), who did a perfect job. Jean-Philippe Sonnet from Threadbare Artwork, was responsible for the design and beautiful artwork.
Each track is unique, bringing avant-garde elements mixed with pure black metal. The symphonic side blends just perfect. The shift that happens time to time in the flow of energy in the songs will not allow you to lose your attention over it. All instruments are in a harmonic equilibrium. You'll find high levels of drum work, that switch from groovy parts to heavy fast rhythms. Fast paced double bass patterns, rich and thicky. Nervous guitars and synth works that mixes homogeneously and of course, the vocals. For an apprentice of the occult arts, particularly those aimed at the origins of mankind, I was completely mesmerized by the vocals. For me it was like listening to the voice of a "fallen". Expressing all the pain and rage caused by the unrighteous penalty inflicted on those who dared to rebel against tyranny. The lyrics kept me completely drowned into the flight. Yes, this album is a real flight to endless cliffs of ancient realms. I don’t have a favorite track, I loved them all, I loved the whole album!
"Benei ha’Elohim", opens the album in a straight direction to the hills of rage of a fallen. A strong dark presence is inflicted upon the listener. Perfection! "Pandaemonium Gathers", "Blôt", "Before The Crawling Chaos" and "Prometheus" stand out as energy catalysts for me. The final track ends a journey of knowledge in a way so intense that it will be impossible for your soul not to be touched and ignited by the flame of the fallen. Lovers of Dimmu Borgir and Emperor can't let this masterpiece unnoticed. Well, I really believe that for any of us, don't matter the metal subgenre some are attached, this album is a "must have". Thank you so much for this album Saille, I really enjoyed it, and it will certainly be in my private collection.
