Is this the world you know? Or is it only in your head, are you merely dreaming awake? These are the types of questions that come to mind when listening to the new album from God Body Disconnect; Sleeper's Fate.

A man stricken with anxiety and the dark recesses of his mind, comatose in a world he thought he knew, but has slipped into his unconsciousness doomed to walk an imagined world. Our protagonist finds himself wandering the worn out streets, sirens in the distance as a heavy sense of paranoia seeps in, a sudden bang and all goes black again. Now awoken in a hospital bed wishing those nurses would pull the plug, this isn't a life worth living.

Ethereal guitar, carefully mixed field recordings and subtle undertones really put you into a story worth experiencing. Tracks like "Reservoir Dreamer" bring forth a very introspective atmosphere with a warm atmosphere as if being underwater, which the field recordings help paint a picture. Distant sounds of voices pierce the now foggy soundscape, sounds of your past self from your childhood, when things were so much easier.

Where the void between life and death occurs, the keeper of keys unlocks the gates to what you hold inside, your future self and your past self. An orchestral melody begins to play out your fate, day beckons to night, left in the dream realm reliving your past and wishing you did more with your life, wishing there was something you could of done to stop what you believe to be your coming death. The gears of eternity are churning, the clock is counting your hours down, will there be a god to come for you? Are you lost here forever within the machine of humanity and all it's downfalls, emotions and movements. Left with a river sprawled out in front of you, reflections of your past and future in the wake of the water around you, beginning to submerge yourself. As if you are drowning with god, you are now waking back up to the world you once knew on earth, only to realize you've been deemed dead by the nurses. Maybe we are all really asleep? And when we die we wake up.

Post-rock influences, large cinematic atmospheres, surreal field recordings and bass driven melodies that slowly build, make this album truly special and quite the journey. This album has truly changed me and I am very thankful for it.
