USA‑based post‑punk/darkwave/alternative rock outfit Astari Nite returns with their new EP Medications In Bloom, accompanied by a video for the single “Dry Shampoo X”. Steeped in themes of validation, self‑preservation, romance, glamour, and decay, the EP encourages listeners to embrace boldness in the face of fragility — to wear the brightest lipstick, laugh loudly, stand tall, and find courage in the cracks. It is a reminder to seek positivity inside the shadows, to greet strangers with warmth, and to accept that everyone deserves love.
The title Medications In Bloom carries a deeply personal resonance for vocalist Mychael Ghost, who shares the emotional origin behind it: “My mother has not been doing well for quite some time. My life for the past four and a half years consists of doctor visits, chatting with nurses, buying her flowers that make me sneeze, my mind wandering about childhood memories while holding her hand. Nevertheless, whenever her prescription is refilled, I’m quickly notified. One day I received that reassuring alert and thought to myself, YAY, ‘Medications In Bloom’ again.”
This intimate reflection threads itself through the EP’s emotional landscape — a blend of vulnerability and resilience, where glamour becomes armour and melancholy becomes movement. “Dry Shampoo X” embodies this duality, pairing Astari Nite’s signature romantic darkness with a sense of defiant self‑affirmation.
With Medications In Bloom, Astari Nite continues to refine their unmistakable aesthetic: dreamy yet sharp, nostalgic yet forward‑leaning, always balancing beauty with bruises. The result is an EP that motivates acceptance, celebrates individuality, and whispers a simple truth — even in decay, something can still bloom. Link
