Australian veteran darkgaze/depressive black metal duo Austere has shared a new single/video, "Time Awry", as the first single from its forthcoming fifth full-length, The Stillness Of Dissolution, due on 6 June via Prophecy Productions.
Austere's guitarist, keyboard player, and vocalist Mitchell Keepin comments: "The first single, 'Time Awry' was the second song written for The Stillness Of Dissolution, our forthcoming new album. The first few songs written for the album tend to have a slightly more stripped back 'rock' sound than those written later, and that is on display here. Lyrically, it is presented from the viewpoint of a betrayed and solemn soul - a man with a heightened awareness of the inescapable running of time and seeking to accelerate that process".
With The Stillness Of Dissolution Austere embarks on a dark journey that leads through the abyss of time, the inevitable return of order to chaos into the black void. In the words of the poet: everything that arises is worth that it perishes.
As always before, Austere's sonic heritage remains alive in The Stillness Of Dissolution. Its roots in early Norse black metal and its depressive Scandinavian offspring remain clearly audible. This also applies to the band's more recent evolution into emotive expressiveness and added blackgaze leanings. Link
