UK-based instrumental doom metallers Borehead have shared the upcoming album details, alongside a new single, "Macadamia". The band's debut full-length, Vita Est Morte Est Vita, will come out on 29 November via recently signed with Octopus Rising on CD, vinyl, and digitally.
Vita Est Morte Est Vita was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studio, London. The four album tracks are a dynamic and richly textured journey through the human psyche - inviting the listener to Discover, Enter, Understand, and Become.
In addition to the cover artwork by the band's Stuart Hodgkinson, each track is accompanied by individual artworks by Steve Burns, Justin Fink, Eduardo Canalejo, and Lauren McIvor. The vinyl purchases will come with physical postcards of all four artworks (while stocks last).
Band comments on "Macadamia": "The comfortable intertwined with the unfamiliar. That's what this track is really about. We wanted to take simple and catchy grooves but then fuck them up a little to challenge both the listener and also us as players. The journey from the serene intro to the crushing outro, to us, defines the idea of personal and spiritual growth - immersion in the unfamiliar until it becomes a part of you. On top of that, Lauren McIvor's stunning artwork represents everything this track is. Colourful. Twisted. Intriguing".
Borehead was formed in 2019 and has released two EPs, 0001 and 0002. The band melds thick, rich fuzz with heavy grooves, thunderous riffs, and enthralling soundscapes. Its live shows transport you to the very darkest reaches of your mind, then drag you back out again, baptised in volume. Link
