North Wales (UK)-based synth-pop/electropop duo Def Neon presents a brand-new single and video, "Drive". The single is taken from the upcoming third album, Neonize, which will be released on 17 October via AnalogueTrash. With "Drive", Def Neon takes an unvarnished look at how nostalgia can be too present in our lives.
Def Neon comprises musicians Emily (on vocals and bass) and Mickey (on guitars and electronics), who together fashion an energetic blend of punk, rock, electro, and bass music that subconsciously transcends genres and scenes, a reflection of their own diverse musical tastes.
The track dips its toes into eddies of nostalgia, and the lyrics reference the past, but the emphasis is always on looking to the future, driving forward as the fog of history recedes in the rearview mirror.
Emily comments: "'Drive' is a track influenced by nostalgia and memories. If you've ever sat on a car drive in the evening lights with the window down reminiscing about the past with the music blaring, that is the feeling we wanted to create with this track. Sometimes nostalgia is good, but sometimes there are parts of the past that we need to leave behind. We still need to keep our eyes on the road ahead. With recording 'Drive', we wanted a track that had a softer tone but also one that still has a club feel to it. With combined influences from artists we love, like Ladyhawke and Underworld, and across the wider UK dance scene." Link
