Austrian atmospheric black metal visionaries Ellende have released their brand‑new single and video, “Wahrheit Teil II”, taken from their forthcoming sixth full‑length album, Zerfall, due out on 2 January 2026 via AOP Records.
Ellende’s founder and multi‑instrumentalist L.G. offers insight into the track: "'Wahrheit Teil II' is about the terrifying and powerful forces within the universe and the illusion that we are somehow in control. Yet it is also a story of rebellion, willpower, and friendship. I created and animated this entire video by myself over nine months. Thank you for being with me. Enjoy."
Founded thirteen years ago in Graz, Austria, Ellende began as an introverted, misanthropic, and anonymous project with the debut EP Rückzug in die Innerlichkeit. Over time, the project has evolved into an internationally acclaimed live act, with L.G. joined by session musicians to bring Ellende’s expansive vision to the stage.
While firmly rooted in atmospheric black metal, Ellende’s sound transcends genre boundaries, weaving in classical instrumentation such as strings and grand piano. This fusion has become a hallmark of their style—pushing beyond tradition to create music that is both devastatingly raw and profoundly beautiful.
With six full‑length albums and three EPs to their name, Ellende have secured four official chart positions, performed more than 120 international shows, and reached over two million Spotify streams in the past year alone. Their lyrical themes have matured alongside their music: from early meditations on misanthropy, nature, and isolation to later explorations of human nature, social criticism, war, loss, despair, and dementia.
The upcoming album Zerfall delves into the state of being shattered into fragments and the arduous process of rebuilding oneself—a confrontation with the void, and ultimately, a triumph over it. Shaped also by a tragic event in L.G.’s personal life, Zerfall promises to be Ellende’s most emotionally resonant and cathartic work to date.
Ellende continue to stand as one of the most compelling forces in atmospheric black metal, fusing intensity with emotional depth, and offering listeners a journey through darkness, fragility, and transcendence. More tour dates are scheduled for January 2026, and you can check them out below. Link
