In celebration of its upcoming European tour with Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum beginning tomorrow, the USA-based melodic death metal unit Hinayana has released a brand new single/video, "Tempest Horizon". Following the footsteps of its latest album, Shatter And Fall, the new track is equally crushing and melodic while boasting accessible grooves, icy blast beats, massive guitars and dynamic vocal intensity. The track arrives alongside a dark, ominous music video.
Frontman Casey Hurd states about the track: "'Tempest Horizon' is about the storm that exists at the edge of every soul as it passes into the next realm. Breaching the barrier between life and death, the tumultuous journey the spirit makes when no longer confined to its mortal shell. The song is meant to be punchy and straight to the point, building off the Hinayana sound but with new aggression and vigour - hinting at the band's next era".
In 2018, Hinayana first ensnared the masses with its self-released debut album, Order Divine, and later defied the pandemic with its subsequent 2020 release, the Death Of The Cosmic EP. Produced by frontman Casey Hurd and Kevin Butler with mastering by Dan Swanö at Unisound, its latest, 2023's Shatter And Fall, serves as a darker, more solemn work in comparison to its previous releases, yet superior without question in songwriting, technicality and cohesiveness. Shatter And Fall also features guest contributions from melodic death metal purveyors Tuomas Saukkonen of Wolfheart and Vincent Jackson Jones of Aether Realm. Setting Hinayana apart from contemporaries like Insomnium, Amorphis and Swallow The Sun, its Shatter And Fall album blends modern, accessible elements with equal parts melody and menace. Link
