UK dark electro project IAmImperfect have revealed a lyric video for "Surviving Is Not Living", the opening track from their recently released EP, Ghosts.

Ghosts captures the relentless, gnawing feelings that refuse to leave you in peace — whether it's the pressure to fit in, the sense that someone else is always doing better, or the constant reminder that others seem to cope while you simply cannot.

The EP explores what it means to keep living while everything around you fights for your attention. It drags you down, pushes you to conform, and pulls you back into the dark. Yet it is also about the strength required to keep going as the world continues to spiral. Ghosts moves between moments of quiet introspection, flashes of hope, and bursts of frustration.

We hear you. We are with you. You are not alone. These ghosts hang over you.

For the visual side of the release, IAmImperfect collaborated with Sheffield artist Stephen Carley, who previously created their 2024 music video for "Static & Feeling". Carley produced a series of double‑exposed film photographs for the artwork, which were then further developed by local artist Scott D'Arcy to reflect the themes of each track — resulting in a set of dark, emotionally charged pieces.

Musically, Ghosts blends darkwave, synth‑pop, industrial, and goth, driven by intricate synth arrangements, electronic drums, heavily distorted guitar, and soaring vocal hooks and harmonies. It will appeal to fans of Solar Fake, The Birthday Massacre, Faderhead, Depeche Mode, and even a touch of Iron Maiden.

Based in Sheffield, IAmImperfect emerged in late 2023 with an appearance at the online Ravenspurgh Music Festival, quickly leading to a run of UK gigs and festival slots throughout 2023 and 2024.

In 2024, the band released a series of singles culminating in the Reincarnate EP. A year of consistent live shows followed in 2025, including a southern‑England tour and the release of the single "The Fallen".

IAmImperfect's new EP, Ghosts — out on 1 May — explores the weight of living in the mid‑2020s: how it wears you down, how it lingers, and how it haunts your every waking moment. Link
