New York-based darkwave artist Magal has conjured a spellbinding sonic offering just in time for Halloween with the release of their latest single, “The Blood Is The Wine”. A brooding and poetic exploration of love, duality, and devotion, the track sets the tone for Magal’s upcoming third full-length album, Celestial, due out in April 2026.
The single is a two-track release, with the title track delving into what mastermind Magal Bell describes as “the Vampiric Romance. Love’s blood oath. The coalition between darkness and light.” With its lush, shadow-drenched textures and evocative lyricism, “The Blood Is The Wine” is a gothic hymn that pulses with both passion and peril.
“The passionate, yet biting poetry cuts through the visceral strata of melodies and rhythms,” Bell explains. “An iambic devotional to the alchemical promise between the Poison and its Antidote.”
Accompanying the title track is “All That There Is”, a haunting companion piece featuring the ethereal vocals of Mother Arson. Her presence adds a spectral dimension to the release, weaving a delicate counterpoint to Magal’s brooding soundscapes. Adding to the single’s sonic gravitas, “The Blood Is The Wine” was mastered by Brendin Ross of Frontal Boundary and Unter Null. His touch ensures the track’s immersive depth and intensity, amplifying its emotional resonance.
As anticipation builds for Celestial, this Halloween release offers a glimpse into the thematic and musical terrain Magal is set to explore—where romance is ritual, and every note is a step deeper into the void. With “The Blood Is The Wine”, Magal doesn’t just mark the season—they redefine it. Link
