Greek symphonic metal visionaries Mystfall return with a new single and video, “Sleeper In The Abyss”, offering another glimpse into the sweeping cinematic world of their upcoming album Embers Of A Dying World, due out 20 March via Scarlet Records.
Fronted by the commanding and ethereal voice of Marialena Trikoglou, Mystfall have carved out a sound rooted in Mediterranean symphonic grandeur, where soaring operatic vocals collide with dramatic orchestrations and metal’s darker emotional undercurrents. “Sleeper In The Abyss” continues this trajectory, weaving together haunting melodies, powerful crescendos, and a sense of mythic scale that feels both intimate and immense.
Embers Of A Dying World unfolds within an alternate dimension where dreams battle nightmares to preserve the last flickers of the human spirit. Each track serves as a chapter in a larger narrative exploring the consequences of humanity’s actions — a reflection on ecological collapse, existential fragility, and the faint but persistent hope for renewal.
The album poses stark, urgent questions: What remains when organic life is extinguished? How do we endure after losing everything? Can hope survive in the ruins we leave behind? Mystfall channel these themes into a symphonic metal opera that is as emotionally charged as it is visually evocative.
Produced, mixed, and mastered by Dionisis Christodoulatos (Sorrowful Angels) at CFN Recordings, the album benefits from a polished yet atmospheric sound. The artwork, created by Giannis Nakos of Remedy Art Design — known for his work with Kamelot, Amaranthe, and Evergrey — further deepens the album’s cinematic identity.
The first edition will arrive as a 4‑panel digipak, underscoring the band’s commitment to delivering a complete aesthetic experience.
A Symphony for fans of epic darkness. With influences spanning Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Xandria, and even the sweeping emotional landscapes of Two Steps From Hell, Mystfall’s second studio album promises to be a monumental step forward for the band.
“Sleeper In The Abyss” stands as a powerful introduction to the album’s themes — a dark, dreamlike descent that invites listeners to confront the shadows while holding onto the embers of hope. Link
