Blackened gothic/doom metal trio from Helsinki (Finland), Sidewalk Mafia, just released their sophomore album, Soulcrushers. The band has fully found their own style, as they were still drifting a bit on their debut. The album differs from the previous works in the way that it is not as thematic as the first one. There are some fictional stories in their lyrics for the first time. However, as usual, the music is heavy, and oppressive with surprising twists and turns - not forgetting the big melodies either.
You can also find a wider musical expression on the record, sound-wise and genre-wise. All the pieces have found their place, with a number of shows played around Europe supporting the debut album and while they were making Soulcrushers. The album is released via Sliptrick Records. Link
