After six years of quiet, international atmospheric metal formation Sojourner return with Gateways — a collection of seven new tracks that elevate the group's folky, melodic and expansive sound while preserving the speed and fury that have defined Mike Lamb and Emilio Crespo's project for over a decade. The arrival of Heike Langhans (ex‑Draconian, ex‑Ison, Remina, Lorelei, Light Field Reverie) adds a new vocal dimension without diluting the band's established intensity.
It has been a long stretch since Sojourner released their latest album, Premonitions (2020, Napalm Records). In the meantime, the collective underwent line‑up changes, returned to Avantgarde Music, and spent years resting, rebuilding and gathering inspiration for what would eventually become their next chapter.
Gateways channels that period of stillness into momentum. Fast up‑tempos, monolithic riffs and soaring atmospheres shape the seven‑song offering, which also includes "Epitaphs", the digital‑only single first issued in late 2024. The result is a statement of full force: Sojourner stepping back into the light with sharpened focus and renewed fire.
Guitarist and songwriter Mike Lamb comments: "Gateways is a labour of love written over the last few years of outward silence, harnessing the soul of everything we've done before while carrying the band forward toward new horizons and opening the way for what comes next".
As of today, Gateways is out via Avantgarde Music on CD, vinyl and digital formats. Link
