Dark alternative/electronic artist SYS Machine has released Parts Unknown, the project's third full‑length and its first outing on Glitchmode Recordings.
Parts Unknown presents a melancholic, introspective collection built on heavy electronic and trip‑hop rhythms, enriched with clean guitar textures and melodic vocals. Lyrically, the album reflects on spiritual and technological uncertainty, exploring recovery, loss and the uneasy transitions that shape new phases of life.
The record also features guest vocals from Kimberly Kornmeier (Bow Ever Down) on two tracks, continuing the atmospheric interplay introduced on previous SYS Machine releases — at times recalling the emotional contrasts of artists such as Garbage and Portishead.
While rooted in the project's established electronic foundations, Parts Unknown broadens the sonic palette with acoustic elements, heavier rhythmic structures and expanded textural detail. The result is a modernised, more dynamic sound drawing inspiration from Porcupine Tree, Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode, Portishead and Nine Inch Nails.
Based in Chicago, SYS Machine blends classic and contemporary electronic influences with songwriter‑driven sensibilities, crafting mid‑tempo, hypnotic compositions built around controlled pulses and subtle shifts — a psychological and introspective signature that remains central to the project's identity.
