Norwegian avant‑garde legends Ulver have unveiled a brand‑new remix of their track “Hollywood Babylon”, reworked by none other than Gazelle Twin — the experimental alter ego of English composer and producer Elizabeth Bernholz. Known for her unsettling electronic atmospheres and theatrical vocal presence, Bernholz transforms the song into a brooding, shadow‑soaked reinterpretation that feels perfectly aligned with the sonic worlds of both artists.

The remix is drawn from Ulver’s 2024 album Liminal Animals, a release that fused dark‑pop sensibilities, poetic spoken‑word passages, and sweeping cinematic electronics. Bernholz preserves the song’s core structure while infusing it with her signature tension — a spectral haze, a deeper emotional pull, and a voice that coils through the mix like a whispered omen.

Ulver’s Kristoffer Rygg reflects on the collaboration: “We became instant fans of Gazelle Twin when we both played at Austria’s Donau Festival in 2017, and we are thrilled to have Elizabeth lend her unique vision and voice to ‘Hollywood Babylon’. Her approach captures the song’s essence while adding new and different layers of emotional depth and contemporary resonance.”

Bernholz shares the sentiment in her note to the band: “I have really enjoyed working on ‘Hollywood Babylon’ — it is such a great song. I love the vibe, chord sequences, vocals and lyrics, which feel ever more prescient. I wanted to bring all those things to the foreground, plus add a bit of GT darkness and my voice.”

The remix arrives as Ulver continue to explore new creative territories. Their latest full‑length album, Neverland, released on 31 December 2025 via House of Mythology, marked the band’s fourteenth studio chapter — another step into the unknown for a group that has never stopped evolving. Link
