Polish post‑black metal/shoegaze project Viamaer, the creative outlet of Krystian Jurkiewicz, did not arise from a need to make music, but from a need to express what cannot be spoken. It is a way of capturing the states a person moves through — a method of giving form to something intangible yet profoundly real. Sound became a natural tool: a space where emotions require no explanation, because they can be heard in melody, timbre, contrast, and in the silence between notes.
Earlier this year, Viamaer released their debut full‑length, In Lumine Lunae, which was warmly received by listeners and critics alike. Now the project returns to its essence in its most raw and intimate form. In Lumine Lunae (Acoustic Sessions) EP is neither an add‑on nor an alternative version; it is a deliberate return to the beginning — to the emotions before production, to the compositions in their bare state.
The tracks known from the original album have been reinterpreted in an acoustic‑instrumental form. No distortion, no layered production, no weighty sound. Instead: space, breath, and silence — which becomes an equally important part of the narrative.
In Lumine Lunae (Acoustic Sessions) reveals the structure and emotional core of the compositions. It is the same story, but told more closely, more directly, without filters and without excess. This version mirrors the original album, yet feels more focused, more immediate, at times even intimate. The same story, spoken in a different language.
The music for the new EP was composed, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Krystian Jurkiewicz. The cover artwork was created by Piotr Pryk and edited and adapted by Jurkiewicz. The EP will be released digitally on 2 April.
Krystian describes it as follows: "These compositions were born in silence and return to silence. Without weight. Without excess. In the acoustic versions, there is nowhere to hide, only what is real remains. Sound does not lie".
