APOPTYGMA BERZERK - To Release A Reworked Version Of The Debut Album For Its 25th Anniversary

Norway's pioneer electronic/rock act Apoptygma Berzerk will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album Soli Deo Gloria and they will do it in style! The band will release a completely reworked album with all Soli Deo Gloria songs in brand new versions. Requests to join the party were sent out to old heroes, bands that inspired Apoptygma Berzerk in their development, friends, colleagues, and new cutting edge acts that they admire.
18 artists were asked to produce fresh, surprising and different versions and add their personal treatment to these already classic tracks.
On 15th March 2019 we'll see a 2xLP/CD/Cassette release of SDGXXV a complete reworked re-recording of the entire Soli Deo Gloria album with a line-up of amazing musicians, programmers and artists, all in close collaboration with APOP's head honcho, Stephan Groth. The album will be out on Artoffact Records for Canada/USA and via Tatra Records for Europe.
The end result is stunning! All of it delicately sown together in a beautiful package of classic EBM/electro/techno/industrial paying homage to this classic album, and at the same time paying respect to the classic acts that inspired it!
Re-imagining Soli Deo Gloria was not an easy task for Apoptygma Berzerk. Groth and co. looked for artists who would not simply provide remixes, but, rather, re-conceived versions that are not only spectacular in their own right, but also go down to the roots of what made the original Apoptygma Berzerk record so special. The band looked to old friends such as Cronos Titan and Mortiis for example, but also commissioned music from a new breed of artists who are changing the landscape today. The EBM of Ancient Methods finds a home on SDGXXV, for example. The entire collection is as eclectic as it is creative, and as timely as it is classic.
This collaborative effort not only does justice to the original album concept, it also breathes new life into a true masterpiece. Now a four track EP with reworked versions done by Ancient Methods, The Invincible Spirit, Beranek and Cronos Titan is released as a predecessor, all four tracks from the SDGXXV EP will be included on the album and you can get it at this location, as well you can give it a listen in the player below.
