Detroit (USA) based deathgaze/goth duo Vazum released a brand new single and music video "Haunted House". This is the first single from Vazum's upcoming album entitled V+. Sonically, "Haunted House" is true to form deathgaze song with densely layered guitars, reverbed vocals and fuzz pedals atop propulsive drums and bass. Accompanying the song is a music video shot and edited by the duo.
"Haunted House" is based on a life-changing experience vocalist/bassist Emily Sturm had when she was awakened one winter night by a shrill, inhuman sound emanating from the distance. Startled, she went outside to investigate but it was silent. When she returned to her room the sound resumed. She went outside again but there was only silence. The following afternoon the porch of Emily's neighbour was taped off as a crime scene. The woman and her infant that lived next door were brutally murdered. Emily has been haunted since, wondering if she had done something she could have prevented the murders. In Irish folklore, a banshee warns of danger by wailing or shrieking. Perhaps the shrill sounds Emily had heard were of a banshee. The song overall is about domestic violence and the awful aftermath left in the wake.
