Danish black metal band Orm will release its third album, Intet • Altet, on 30 September through its allies at Indisciplinarian. Only recently, the band shared the first album's excerpt - a three-minute-visualizer for the album-opening twenty-four-minute-long track "Fra Dyden", available also in the player below.
Intet • Altet (The Nothing • The All) is a double album that once again expands Orm's epic and visionary black metal through a narrative about four life phases, which unfold over four grandiose compositions with a total running time of ninety-two minutes!
Intet • Altet was recorded between February and June 2022, and it features several guest contributions, including trumpet performed by Mads Peter Steenstrup and violin by Nils Gröndahl.
With Intet • Altet, Orm once again advances and evolves its art even further. The mastodonic format affords Orm even more freedom to unfold its musical vision as it soars high among the mountain peaks, then roars with the raging rapids only to dip low into the valleys to meditate with the forgotten spirits.
Intet • Altet tackles the four stages of life, inspired by the band's progression - personally and musically. Each of the four compositions centres around a distinct life stage - the fiery youth, the burdened adult, the ascetic hermit, and finally, the ascension into the next realm. The lyrics are inspired by the psalms and legends that mark the passage between the life stages and, ultimately, the inevitable passage from life to death.
Orm was formed in 2015 and released its eponymous debut album in 2017, setting the stage for the band's epic melodic black metal. The sophomore release, Ir (2019), saw the band transcend the confines of contemporary black metal with a full-length consisting of two long tracks of progressive, extreme music. Orm always seeks to expand its artistic universe, explores the boundaries of extreme metal and pushes beyond them. One of the band's unique hallmarks is the epic format with long compositions and simultaneously personal and metaphysical narratives on human existence. Link
