Swedish melodic doom/death metal masters October Tide are at the writing stage of their seventh studio album, with plans to complete recordings during the summer months.
Fredrik Norrman (ex-Katatonia, ex-Trees Of Eternity, Thenighttimeproject) finds the new material "less doomish" in comparison to the band's past works, that stretch from 1997's Rain Without End to 2019's In Splendor Below.
"What to say about the sound? It's definitely a step away from the doom genre we have been stuck in. It's more death metal in an old-school kind of way. It's still October Tide but with a touch of the past", states Norrman.
The recordings will commence in May at the Swedish studio Gröndahl with Karl Daniel Lidén (Bloodbath, Katatonia) behind the console desk. Later they'll move to the member's home studio and back again to Lidén, who'll mix and master the album. Link
