Martin Saint is the lead singer and rhythm guitar player with Montreal's The Ember Glows, along with members of Room Control and Scene Noir. He previously fronted the band Citylake. In the meantime, he pursues part-time projects such as the occasional solo release/performing and some spoken word. Yesterday, his latest release, the Radio Murmurs album, saw the light of day, and now awaits you also in the player below.
Radio Murmurs combines many genres: indie rock, post-punk, new wave, shoegaze, and perhaps some more. It is Martin Saint's fourth solo release since 2019; the collection emerged during the pandemic with the specific intention of producing a full-length. The goal was to achieve a result similar to David Bowie's Low, with half the record featuring more accessible pop hooks and the other half more atmospheric and texture-driven. As always, lyrics aim at standing for themselves outside the music as a major cornerstone of the ensemble. Glimmers of Nick Cave, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Simple Minds and The Doors infuse most of Martin Saint's work, and Radio Murmurs displays these references a little at a time. Link
