Today, Norwegian black metal band Urarv released its latest offering, Substratum, on Polypus Records. The album features alternative versions of songs from its previous albums, Aurum and Argentum, and one brand-new track.
Substratum is not a compilation; it's an entirely new vision for the band, offering alternative versions of tracks from Aurum and Argentum, recorded in 2013 before its first two albums. Additional instruments and layers were added in 2021/2022, creating an epic and insane journey through long-forgotten cesspools and sewers.
Embrace the darkness and witness the evolution of Urarv's sound through this reimagined debut. With influences ranging from Ved Buens Ende to Dødheimsgard and Darkthrone, Substratum is a journey through the band's raving mad past, present, and future. The album showcases its unique sound, which transcends traditional black metal, incorporating a variety of instruments and vocal styles.
In the words of Urarv's frontman, Substratum is "merely a treat for any of you sick fucks that actually want to listen to this triangle of toilets that is Urarv, while we get busy working on the third studio album".
