Finnish dark folk ensemble Tenhi unveiled a lyric video of the title track and second single taken from their forthcoming album, Valkama, (Harbour/Shelter). The long-awaited new full-length of Tenhi has been scheduled for release on the 9th of June via Prophecy Productions. Parallel to the release of Valkama, Tenhi will also make a limited hardcover slipcase box available under the title Collected Works 2023.
Tyko Saarikko comments: With candle-burned hands and lungs full of smoke we present the lyric video for the song 'Valkama' now. The video continues in the style of old animations, which we initially used in the lyric video for the song 'Saattue'. These are simple yet still captivating visuals that tap into the mood of the song. To get a real sense of depth, I crafted one of the artworks for the album as actual models and laid them out in diorama style. The song itself is about the journey beyond this reality's canvas and over to the other side, where one is being awaited and greeted with joy."
Tenhi could hardly have picked a more suitable band name. This old Finnish word means a person that is an 'elder' or 'shaman'. And while the shamans of the ancient nomadic Finns are the guardians against but also the mediators between their communities and the spirit world, Tenhi are their musical equivalent as a liminal force between dark folk, folk rock, and even reaching out into the normally electrified world of metal. The latter invites comparison with Wardruna and Heilung, although in a spiritual meaning and certainly not by way of stylistic comparison.
The gleaming and smoldering lyric video "Valkama" is waiting to be played right below, and over HERE you can check out the previously released single "Saattue". Link
