The band was formed in 2010 as the brainchild of Andy Guy, The State infuse industrial, electronic, post-punk and rock to create a dark, atmospheric soundscape with themes ranging from society and politics to isolation and abandonment which ensures a human connection. In 2011, they remixed "Scanner" by Gary Numan as part of a contest judged by the artist himself and won. The State's first EP, In Love With The Gun, was released in 2012 on Misanthropic Records, with the album The Centre Cannot Hold following in 2013. They have just released a new single/EP, Bullets, on the same label. They are currently working on new material for a new album and securing some live dates across England later this autumn and on in to the new year. The State have become notorious for their intense and elaborate stage shows that mix elements of music and film fused together with video projections providing the backdrop for the band's synthesisers, heavy guitars, vocals and rhythm section. The band's goal is to draw the audience into their bizarre but beautiful world, ensuring their live performances are as intense and rich as their studio works. Link
