Italy's finest purveyors of black/doom metal, Forgotten Tomb, are about to receive a re-release of their classic thrid album, Love's Burial Ground, in CD, digital formats, and for the first time on LP, through Agonia Records. The remastered and remixed version, including re-vamped layout (and original cover, censored back in 2004), will have its world premiere on 27th November.
With almost 15 years of activity, 6 full-length albums and a double live in-studio album, live shows all over Europe and a worldwide underground following, Forgotten Tomb definitely deserves its cult status in the current extreme metal scene. With now-classic albums such as the milestones of Songs To Leave (2002) and Springtime Depression (2003), the band practically crafted and gave birth to a whole new sub-genre, now regarded as depressive black/doom metal.
Forgotten Tomb's mastermind Ferdinando 'Herr Morbid' Marchisio commented on the re-release: "We recently got back to Elfo Studio and reopened the mixing sessions for our classic 3rd album Love's Burial Ground. The album has been hard to find for quite a while now and we felt it needed a proper re-release as we did with our first 2 albums recently. We were unsatisfied with a few details of the original release so we went there and improved our earlier mix. It retains all the original sessions and mix but we just refined a few things in the sound and remastered it all. Also, we added a few different details to the album title and tracklist and reintegrated the original cover-artwork, which was censored back then. Fans won't be disappointed since it's the best sounding version of this album ever and still very faithful to the original. Booklets and graphix are renewed and they include some unreleased and old pictures from that era. Last but not least, it will finally see a vinyl release with a couple of very special LP versions. This is my favourite among the first three Forgotten Tomb classics and I hope you'll enjoy its long-awaited new found glory."
The album has been remixed and remastered in Elfo Studio (Italy) together with long-time sound engineer, Daniele Mandelli. Check the cover artwork below.
In other news, the band will embark on an headlining European tour in late October/early November 2015, supporting their latest record, Hurt Yourself And The Ones You Love, released in April 2015. The band will perform a brand-new set of songs, including material from all their discography that hasn't been played in a while, or never before. Support will come from French black metallers Nocturnal Depression and on some dates by Italians Mortuary Drape. Tour dates are listed below. Link
