Flowers For Bodysnatchers has teamed up with Nathan Hassall for this latest EP, Fall The Night. On Fall The Night, Flowers For Bodysnatchers has interpreted poems written by Nathan Hassall. For each of three poems Flowers For Bodysnatchers has written a song to complement the poem. Flowers For Bodysnatchers says about Fall The Night, "Fall The Night is an EP inspired by Nathan Hassall's illustrated poetry chapbook, The Flesh and Mortar Prophecy. Nathan Hassall leads the way where few are willing to go, deep into the mind's dark sanctuary. All-knowing doctors, schizophrenic demons and apocalyptic visions are all part of the process within the confines of flesh. Once entered, there is no way to unlearn the awakened chimeras of the self." Beneath the player you will find the poem "Where The Carcass Lies" which inspired the song of the same name. Keep an eye on Flowers For Bodysnatchers YouTube channel, here, for the next two installments. Link.
Where The Carcass Lies
I
Above damp grass,
I catch the glimmer
of dim light.
the stars coalesce with me,
the night whispers in tongues
and all around me,
visions shatter.
II
Saws spin
and hack thoughts
from pathetic minds.
each blade dulls the lucid veil
through chimeras of hideous chuckling.
III
Before brittle bones,
I had planned an escape
determined to bring back the light
from disquiet skies.
now above me a frayed rope,
and a burn on my neck.
Poem written by Nathan Hassall from the chapbook The Flesh And Mortar Prophecy.
