Finally we can expect with nearly cassandric easyness, that after the dark and energetic album Riot (2012) and the melancholic acoustic album The Langsyne Litanies (2014), Golden Apes will once more satisfy musically and surprise stylistically on their upcoming album M A L V S.
The band comments: "What finally became M A L V S started with a few rough sketches right after The Langsyne Litanies were told and no one then could guess the paths they would lead us to, let alone their directions. Some were those of trial and tribulation, some were lined with laughter and joy, some were reliable detours, others just given intuition and every step we took became a dot on the canvas, became a letter of the album´s abecedary. And so we are more than proud and happy with every single step, with the picture that emerged and with the 13 tracks evoking M A L V S in the end."
In its 13 tracks the band sounds more versatile and more experimental than ever before. If they used to deny stylistic borders so far, now they simply ignore them to grant every song it´s proper setting, it´s atmospheric biotope. Never before has the band worked in such a self-contained and autonomous way, has avoided any kind of external involvement during the recording and mixing process, has skirted practices for new influences, like the guest-singing of The Frozen Autumn´s Froxeanne, and has refused any offers that would have resulted in a limitation of the time the album’s genesis was going to take.
