RÅHYPNOS - Debut Album Out This Month, New Video Released

Swedish darkwave/darkpop duo Råhypnos released a new video for the song "New Chapter". The song is taken from their upcoming debut album entitled Do We Want It?, the long-awaited sequel to their self-titled debut EP from 2016, which will be released on 27th April. Do We Want It? is a logical evolution from the EP. The sound scape is bigger with more time put into the production. It is clear that the music had time to mature this time. The dark and heavy tone to the music is combined with Pablo and Nadja's characteristic voices. On top of that, the songs also features a touch of beautiful minimalism.
The result is an album that feels innovative. In addition, the lyrics reflect the music well. Råhypnos mirrors the vanity and human darkness of our time. It's about identity, boundaries and failures, but in the middle of the darkness there is also a subtle message of hope and personal responsibility.
The first single from Do We Want It? is "New Chapter". A song about a person who wakes up from a sleeping existence, desperate for change and throws himself into the unknown. With "New Chapter", the band wants to show that it's never too late. That new adventures waits around the corner. That everything can change and that you should never give up.
Råhypnos says: "The song came about last winter. Some songs are finished right away. This was one of the songs that took some time to finish for us. We had put it aside for a while and then returned to it. It was one of the first songs that was written to the album, but one of the last ones we finished." For the song, the duo released a video that resembles a surreal dream that blends fiction with reality. Where you not really know what is what or who is who. The video was made by Andreas Dunsäter at IENTO and you can watch it in the player below.
Råhypnos was formed in Gothenburg in 2015 by Pablo Rautenberg and Nadja Virgé. The band quickly became famous for mixing many styles and in their music are influences from rock and dark wave as well as electronica and modern dance music. In 2016, they released their self-titled debut EP, which was hailed by different music blogs all around the globe. The music was described, among other things, as a mixture of dark indie and modern pop. After the release the band toured Sweden playing in different club venues. Link
