VENETIAN VEIL - Exclusive Premiere Of New Single And First Official Music Video

Sacramento, CA (USA) based experimental dark duo Venetian Veil will release on 12th February a brand new EP titled The World At The Heart Of This Sadness. For this occasion, Terra Relicta web magazine has teamed up with the duo and we present you exclusively here the first single and video for the single version of the song "Swallow". This also happens to be the very first official music video of Venetian Veil.

Venetian Veil comment about the video: "This is the first music video Venetian Veil has done. It only seemed inevitable since we have a history of doing things like live film scores, and over the last year, live streaming events on social media. "Swallow" was the obvious song choice for a first video. The version you hear during the video is part of a forthcoming remix album, and the song is one of the most catchy things we've done, especially this version. Like pretty much everything we do, this video was a totally DIY affair. Just a couple of smartphones, a tripod, a computer, and a head full of visuals. We are a band primarily concerned with atmosphere, and we've always loved black and white films, so we tried to recreate the dream-like atmosphere of an old silent film."

Venetian Veil is featuring former members, Jim Willig and Susan Hunt of the post-metal band (Waning). The project began in 2011 and released their first album Apophenia on Auricular Records in 2012. Several more albums have followed, varying between dark ambient excursions and dreamy gothic songcraft. Venetian Veil's gothic kosmische pulls from a wide variety of sound, and you may hear influences as diverse as Cocteau Twins, Popol Vuh, Black Tape For A Blue Girl, Coil, and Slowdive.

May 2020 saw the release of There Is A Sadness At The Heart Of The World. On 12th February the band will release the before mentioned a companion collection entitled The World At The Heart Of This Sadness (Remixes). This collection features three remixes by the band, and three additional mixes by like-minded artists Lament Cityscape, Of This Earth, and Müte. Venetian Veil has also created their first music video for the leadoff track on the collection, a new version of the song "Swallow". Now, listen and watch the video done by Jim Willig for "Swallow" in the player below.
