REMAIN IN LIGHT - Exclusive Streaming Premiere Of New Album Αnosognosia

Terra Relicta dark music web magazine is proud to present an exclusive full album premiere by Greek gothic rock/post-punk act Remain In Light. Its fourth album, Anosognosia, contains nine tracks (of which seven are instrumental) and will be released tomorrow, 24 June, while fully available for streaming today.

The main figure behind Remain In Light, Yorgos Panteleon, on the new release: "'Anosognosia' is a condition in which a person with a disability is cognitively unaware of having it due to an underlying physical or psychological condition. Αnosognosia is also the title of Remain In Light's new album. The story behind its creation goes back to almost four years ago when a serious family condition emerged. A bit later, Covid-19 showed its ugly head, and one of its results was the collapse of the band. Several musical ideas I had started working on during that time persisted in the dark days which followed. They sort of 'demanded' to be expressed properly, and that is when I made the decision to keep alive the idea of Remain In Light and move forward with new members and friends who still believed in the band. I had thus to start working on my own in a completely new and unfamiliar way to me. Whereas once the band met weekly for rehearsals, now I had to turn my office into a recording studio.

Vangelis once said, '…instrumental music goes beyond the limitations vocal music creates'. In this case, it also reflected ideas and moods during the lockdown. I had the desire to do something like that for a very long time, but this collided with the opinions of band members before. Today, Remain In Light is transformed after this necessary change. It is, for the time being, a duo - instead of a five-member band. I don't know whether the music will continue purely instrumental for the rest of the band's days, but for the time being, that's a new way that has risen - and it looks like a new adventure that thrills me!"

Remain In Light arose from the ashes of older punk and new wave formations in 2010, the year of the terrible economic crisis burst in Thessaloniki, Greece. Y on bass, Snow on guitar (both ex-The Grimes) and S. "Reverb" G. (ex-Fear Condition) formed the initial incarnation of the band, which produced a dozen gothic-rock tracks within a few months. Since the band has undergone several line-up changes and had for years two bassists at the same time, Yorgos Panteleon aka. Y is the only remaining founding member of the band.

So far, the band released a self-produced six-track mini-album, Introduction To A Dream, in October 2013, and two full-lengths: Splinters In Arcadia (2016) and ten-track The Sentinel Diaries, released in 2018 via Deepland Records, along with the 2018s single, "The Kiss (Cruel Britannia club remix)".

In January 2022, Remain In Light, which after the pandemic acts as a duo, completed a new nine-track album, Anosognosia, which we welcome today. Two of its tracks, "Eurasia" and "Zeus Watching", have already been released in video format, while a lyric video for "Hail Mary Hour" will be unleashed any day now. Stay tuned, and enjoy listening to Anosognosia.
