The swiss “shoegazers” Last Leaf Down return with their second album and are delivering an overwhelming soundscape of dark and atmospheric melodies. Their previous work Fake Lights was released in 2014 through Lifeforce Records. The soft guitars, the dreamy atmosphere and the whispering voice were the main characteristics of this release. Nevertheless in Bright Wide Colder we can appreciate an evolution of their sound, sometimes unclassifiable, but certainly we can notice many different elements like shoegaze, post rock, gothic rock or even metal. Last Leaf Down perform this amazing mix like you won't hear it by any other band.

Back in November last year, the first single called “The Path” was released, deploying a completely new musical universe with a vast number of different guitar sounds, drum rhythms and new vocal tones. At that time, I had the feeling that something bigger would come and I was right because we are in front of one of the best albums released in the last couple of years. The production on Bright Wide Colder is gorgeous, the sound quality is amazing and the musical richness is incomparable. The more you listen to this album, the more you discover new details.

It’s so very addictive, believe me that you won’t stop listening to this masterpiece so easily, and after a while you'll gonna need your daily dose of their music. It’s difficult to point out at any song above the rest but “Suspire” is the perfection made song, it has a dreamy atmosphere driven by awesome guitars, magnificent drums and epic voice. “Not The Same” is another unforgettable song, again the guitars build an impressive wall of sound. “Dust” is yet another example of what this band is capable to do. No matter what music style is your favorite, Last Leaf Down should take part of your music library, they offer us one of the best guitar driven experiences we can find out there.
