Iconic British occult blues rock legend Arthur Brown has revealed the title track from his forthcoming full‑length, Nature, created in collaboration with Dan Smith and due for release on 4 September via Prophecy Productions.
The title piece arrives as a beautifully shot visual clip, filmed live during Brown's flamboyant, theatrical performances on his recent European tour.
Arthur Brown comments on Nature: "This is a time of confusion and choice. Deep inside us is a consciousness, which is the basis of everything. Can we find a way to know ourselves as being it? At the moment all our social structures, our laws, education system, everything in our culture are no longer using the parts of our brain that can care for the world in its totality. From this comes our discomfort in our living. All our problems arise from this dualistic world image. We need to find a way to stand before this 'consciousness' and drop all our current 'answers'".
As Brown continues to perform worldwide, Nature stands as a profound, poetic culmination of his artistic journey. After six decades of boundary‑breaking shows, pioneering work in rock music, and a life spent travelling the world, fate has brought the iconic singer back to his origins — both creatively and geographically.
For more than sixty years, Arthur Brown has remained one of the most singular, visionary figures in rock. His work has consistently moved beyond conventional songwriting into theatre, ritual, and sonic experimentation. Now, at the height of his extraordinary, decade‑spanning career, Brown announces what he considers his pinnacle album: Nature.
In recent years, Brown has reflected deeply on how he wished the final chapter of his musical path to unfold. After decades of global travel, the question became not how to continue, but how to remain true to himself. Though he originally planned to settle in the United States, fate intervened. Brown, his partner, and creative director Claire Waller found themselves unexpectedly in North Yorkshire.
What first appeared to be a temporary detour soon revealed itself as something far more meaningful. Living among the vast landscapes of the North York Moors, Brown realised he had followed a deeper call — the call of his blood. He discovered he was living in his ancestral homeland, only miles from the resting places of his great‑grandfather, grandfather, and father. To the other side lay Whitby, the ancient coastal town of dark folklore and his birthplace. The symmetry of this return felt almost mythic.
Nature reflects a life devoted to creativity, spirituality, and the search for meaning. Throughout Brown's career, one idea has continually resurfaced: the cosmic unity of existence. This album places that philosophy at its centre. Nature is not intended as a closing statement, but as the distilled essence of a lifetime spent exploring the mysteries of being — the sound of a wandering minstrel pausing to listen to the wind in the trees. Quite literally so.
Nature's call reshaped Brown's creative process. Instead of building the album solely within studio walls, he began recording the natural soundscape surrounding his home: bubbling brooks, the nearby river's flow, wind through trees, wind chimes, footsteps on soil and woodland paths, the crackle of fire in the hearth. These textures became integral to Nature's sonic palette.
Brown then gathered the ideal collaborators. Working with producer Isaac McInnis of Crooked Room Studio, he developed the conceptual framework — blending environmental recordings with improvisational composition. When the foundation was ready, he invited composer and multi‑instrumentalist Dan Smith (also part of the current The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown live line‑up) to help shape the music.
Together with McInnis and Waller, the creative process unfolded organically. Brown brought a lifetime of lyrical craft, poetic instinct, and philosophical insight. The songs emerged through improvised sessions guided by intuition rather than rigid structure.
After these sessions, Smith continued expanding the musical landscape, working closely with McInnis, Waller, and Brown to shape what would become Nature. More than simply another record, it forms an interwoven tapestry of natural sound, improvisation, traditional composition, and joyful collaboration.
It is time to let Nature take its course... Link
