Hungary-based BÁL, a one-man black metal project that has existed since 2017, is about to release its new full-length, Nagyobb nálam (Greater than Myself), on 13 October through Masters Of Kaos Productions on CD and digitally. Also, BÁL has recently shared the first single and video from the upcoming album - "Satans Braut".
BÁL states about his project: "With numerous physical and digital releases behind me, I can confidently say that BÁL is a diverse project where every release offers something unexpected. In the discography, you can find everything from dissonant atmospheric black metal and DSBM to death metal and even traces of drum & bass and disco funk. Of course, part of the audience is likely 'allergic' to these, but since this project is quite self-serving, that's not a problem. In the early days, I was mostly inspired by things like suffering, hopelessness, and emptiness. The lyrics were thematically built around these, but since then, they have evolved and changed towards themes like nightmarish visions, feverish dreams, and spirituality. Over the years, I have worked with several artists, including Isataii from the USA, Celestial Shadows from Australia, and Goatkrieg from Germany, to name a few. BÁL is a one-man project that never sticks to a single mood or atmosphere. The possessing spirit, and through it myself, constantly evolves and learns because we have realized that accepting change and renewal is the key to the true essence of growth".
BÁL on the approaching Nagyobb nálam full-length: "The Nagyobb nálam album is probably the most well-composed yet rawest album in BÁL's history. Looking at the tracklist, it's the longest album, although the runtime might be challenging compared to some previous albums. This full album can be divided into two parts: 12 songs plus 5 bonus tracks. The first 12 songs include an intro and an outro. The 10 tracks between the intro and outro form the core of the album. As you journey through these songs, you'll encounter hope and despair, light and darkness, love and hatred, happiness and sadness, as well as a strange sacred knowledge, classic spirituality, elusive psychedelia, and finally, threaded through it all, plenty of aggression and depression, which ultimately lead to wisdom and acceptance. Among the bonus tracks, three are acoustic versions of older BÁL songs performed on acoustic guitar and bass guitar. The vocal style remains unchanged, so the hoarse, painful rasping and screeching still complement the sound of these beautiful instruments. Track 16 is the shortest and the only one officially made for a competition organized by Bogren Digital. The album's last track was originally created for a tutorial video of mine, which can be found on my YouTube channel. This video demonstrates how to create raw, atmospheric ambient black metal using free software and minimal physical equipment. The album cover was designed by my sister, Anna Rósz. In my opinion, it's a brilliant creation and visually expresses the release extremely well".
"For the 5th track (Satans Braut) - which was practically the first one - a stunning short film was made by Smara Kand and her team. Petra, from Smara's team, wrote the lyrics for the song, making it the first English-language track. There are two other English-language songs on the album as well. By the way, three songs are instrumental, and the rest are written in beautiful Hungarian. Back to the point, it was Smara's idea to collaborate after a longer hiatus, and if she hadn't reached out to me, this album might not have seen the light of day - or at least not in this form and not at this time", adds BÁL and concludes: "In closing, I just want to thank everyone who listens to or even fully experiences the album. I truly hope everyone finds the lesson within that resonates with them".
Since BÁL is a long-term host of BÁL'S BELLS - toll black metal radio show on Terra Relicta Radio, he will premiere his new album, Nagyobb nálam, on BÁL'S BELLS - toll black metal #37, next Sunday, 6 October, on Terra Relicta Radio. As he would say: "Enjoy!" Link
