Fresh off their European tour with Infected Rain, Lithuanian modern avant‑garde metal quintet Black Spikes return with “Revana”, the second single from their upcoming album Ydos, set for release on 28 August via Napalm Records. Continuing the album’s overarching concept — each track embodying one of humanity’s vices — “Revana” personifies revenge as a seductive, destructive force haunting the band’s shadow‑drenched sonic world.

Musically, “Revana” stands out with its blend of recognisable, hook‑laden riffs, darkly beautiful melodies, and the band’s signature modern progressive edge. The accompanying cinematic video deepens the narrative, drawing inspiration from the 17th‑century witch hunts that swept through Lithuania. Women who defied societal expectations or displayed curiosity were often falsely accused of witchcraft and executed — a historical cycle of fear, projection, and vengeance that echoes the song’s core theme.

Black Spikes elaborate on the concept: “‘Revana’ is the name we’ve chosen for revenge. Revenge promises closure but often delivers continuation. It keeps the story going instead of ending it. You don’t ‘get even’ — you stay entangled. In the music video, we depict a story inspired by the witch hunts that reached Lithuania in the 17th century. Women who stood out or didn’t fit into society were often falsely accused and revenged by death sentence for causing misfortunes in their communities.”

Ydos marks Black Spikes’ first release with Napalm Records and arrives shortly after their double nomination at Lithuania’s M.A.M.A. Music Awards. The album explores the flaws and fractures of human nature, each vice given its own sonic identity. Conceptually rich and musically intricate, Ydos merges progressive metal, electronic textures, and dark atmospheric elements into a sound that is both alluringly modern and emotionally weighty.

Every riff, every rhythmic shift, and every electronic pulse reflects the album’s philosophical depth. Black Spikes guide the listener through a labyrinth of introspection — a Janus‑faced journey into the self, where every step feels uncertain, and every shadow may conceal a trap.

With “Revana”, the band sharpen their artistic vision and further establish themselves as one of the most compelling rising acts in the European modern metal landscape. Link
