Parisian coldwave veterans Curtain, long regarded as one of the key ambassadors of the French cold‑music movement, are set to release their new album Spiral on 6 May via Manic Depression Records. Emerging from the same lineage as Corpus Delicti, Martin Dupont, Little Nemo and Guerre Froide — bands with whom they have recently shared the stage — Curtain continue to affirm their place at the heart of the genre’s modern resurgence.

Formed in 2000, the band have built a steady, evolving discography of albums and EPs, most recently the 2024 full‑length Between Us, also released through Manic Depression Records. Over the years, Curtain have refined a sound rooted in coldwave minimalism yet driven by emotional tension, melodic austerity and a distinctly Parisian sense of shadow and elegance.

Their upcoming album Spiral marks a significant new step, produced by Franck Amendola of Corpus Delicti, whose involvement adds an additional layer of depth and continuity to the French coldwave lineage. The band will support the release with a European tour, bringing their stark, hypnotic energy back to stages across the continent.

The singles “Mother”, “Fire”, and the most recent “L’Instant Suspendu” have already offered a glimpse into this new era — songs that capture Curtain’s ability to balance icy detachment with emotional gravity, signalling a chapter defined by sharper contrasts, deeper atmospheres and a renewed creative pulse.

With Spiral, Curtain reaffirm their status as one of the defining voices of contemporary coldwave, carrying the movement’s legacy forward while carving out their own unmistakable path. Link
