Polish atmospheric black/epic doom metal solo project Divine Sovereign has announced a new album, Autaxia Chronicles: A House Divided, slated for release on 3 July via Wormholedeath. The first single, "Heresy", is now out.
A House Divided marks the second instalment in the Autaxia Chronicles series, continuing the narrative set in 2025's Dawn Of A New Age. Whereas the debut explored religious fanaticism as a unifying force — people bound together in resistance against oppression — the new chapter turns the lens to its inverse: how the same beliefs can fracture societies from within. The album draws on historical reality, acknowledging that nearly every major religion — from early Christianity and Islam to Buddhism and Judaism — carries a legacy of schism, sectarianism, and doctrinal conflict. In the Autaxia universe, the pattern repeats. With the independence war concluded and the planet's inhabitants now ruling themselves, their psionic abilities begin to fail. The king and his priesthood respond with increasingly brutal rituals in pursuit of what they believe to be the species' ultimate destiny: immortality.
The concept behind A House Divided examines the opposite side of the thematic coin introduced on the first record — religion as a force of division rather than unity — and how this dynamic manifests across different faiths, eras, and cultures, both in real history and within Autaxia's lore. Musically, Divine Sovereign draws from the atmospheric and epic traditions of Ethereal Shroud, Panopticon, Gallowbraid, and Atlantean Kodex, crafting long‑form compositions built to bear the weight of the story they convey.
Founded in 2023, Divine Sovereign is a Polish atmospheric black/epic doom metal solo project chronicling the unfolding saga of Autaxia, a world where an advanced species uncovers the remnants of a once‑great civilisation. Link
