Faroese visionary transcendent artist Eivør has opened a new chapter in her ever‑evolving artistic journey. On 16 October, she will release her new studio album Tungl — named after the Faroese word for moon — through Nuclear Blast Records, marking one of her most ambitious works to date.

To accompany the announcement, Eivør has revealed the powerful new single “Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden”, a track that dives deep into the intuitive, untamed forces that shape her creative universe. The song arrives with a breathtaking video filmed in the dramatic landscapes of Svínadalur, Iceland, directed by Krassasig (Kristinn Arnar Sigurðsson) — a visual counterpart that mirrors the song’s elemental pulse.

In her own words, Eivør describes “Dragon Maiden” as an awakening: “The song is a tribute to the fierce, intuitive force that lives within us all. While ‘Healer’ explored resilience, ‘Dragon Maiden’ feels more like a reminder of the power that has always been within you.”

Originally born as a poem lingering in the back of her mind, the piece grew into a collaborative work with Faroese poet Marjun S. Kjelnæs, whose contribution helped shape its final form. Eivør produced and recorded the track together with long‑time creative partner Tróndur Bogason and her band, aiming for a sound that balances playfulness and movement with an undercurrent of melancholy and shadow.

“I wanted it to feel danceable, yet still carry that contrast between light and darkness. ‘Dragon Maiden’ is about trusting your intuition, embracing uncertainty, and finding the courage to surrender to life’s unfolding.”

The result is a song that lives between worlds — between stillness and motion, clarity and mystery — capturing the essence of Eivør’s unique musical language.

With Tungl, Eivør steps confidently into a new phase of her career, one shaped by poetic introspection, elemental imagery, and a fearless embrace of transformation. “Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden” offers the first glimpse into that lunar realm. The official video can be watched below.

Eivør’s return in 2026 is not limited to new music. The Faroese artist will spend the summer performing across Europe, appearing at several major festivals — Paléo Festival, Brutal Assault, Summer Breeze, and ArcTanGent — alongside a select run of headline shows. Among them is a special open‑air performance at the iconic Openluchttheater De Goffert amphitheatre in Nijmegen .

To mark the arrival of Tungl, Eivør has announced two exclusive album‑release concerts this October. The first will take place on 17 October at Nordic House in Tórshavn, offering a rare hometown celebration. She will then return to Harpa’s Eldborg Hall in Reykjavík on 23 October, joined by special guest musicians for a unique performance in one of the Nordic region’s most renowned concert halls. These intimate events will give audiences an early chance to experience Tungl in a focused, atmospheric setting before the full international tour begins.

Following the album’s release, Eivør will embark on an extensive North American headline tour later this year, before continuing across Europe and the UK into 2027 — a long‑form touring cycle that reflects the scale and ambition of her new artistic chapter. Link
