New York’s genre‑splicing force Makes My Blood Dance (MMBD) continues their ascent through the darker corridors of alternative music with the release of their new video for the latest single “Black Summer”, a track that sharpens their hybrid of electro‑goth, pop‑metal and high‑voltage electronic dance energy into its most cinematic form yet.
Issued in late February, “Black Summer” marks the band’s second single for Metropolis Records following their signing in late 2025. Accompanied now by a visually striking video, the track opens the next chapter of MMBD’s expanding narrative world while setting the stage for an intensive touring cycle. The band will embark on a US national run with Powerman 5000 and 12 Stones, beginning on 24 April and concluding in late May.
Speaking about the new single, MMBD explain that the video “expands the world we have been building through recent releases, but this story cuts deeper. ‘Black Summer’ is the metaphorical crucifixion of a romance gone wrong — the moment betrayal burns through illusion and forces you to decide who you are after the fall.”
The single also serves as a preview of the band’s forthcoming debut album, with a release date to be announced soon. Alongside “Black Summer”, the record will feature previously issued tracks “Heavy Metal Armour”, “Time And A Place”, and “Your Little Hand In Mine”.
Positioned at the crossroads of industrial rock, darkwave and electronic nightlife, Makes My Blood Dance has built its reputation through relentless touring, immersive fan engagement and a flair for provocative, dance‑driven visuals. Their shows blur the line between rock concert and club ritual — a fusion that has steadily transformed underground curiosity into a rapidly growing following.
With “Black Summer”, MMBD step confidently into their next era, sharpening their identity while widening the scope of their dark, neon‑lit universe. Link
