Norwegian melodic black metal force Sworn reveal the title track from their forthcoming album Null Crowned The Infinite, set for release on 4 September. The record arrives three years after the critically acclaimed A Journey Told Through Fire (2023) and marks the band’s most ambitious conceptual undertaking to date. Featuring production by legendary engineer Jens Bogren and artwork by visionary illustrator Pär Olofsson, the album charts a vast narrative that spans the birth, evolution, and ultimate dissolution of the cosmos.
Lyrically, Null Crowned The Infinite confronts the terrifying immensity of the universe — a place where existence flickers briefly against an endless, indifferent void. Sworn explores the philosophy of becoming and unmaking: reality emerging from nothingness, shaping itself through aeons, and finally collapsing back into the same primordial darkness. It is a meditation on fragility, insignificance, and the cyclical nature of all things.
Musically, the album pushes Sworn’s melodic black metal identity into new extremes. The title track balances the band’s signature melodic tension with heightened aggression and sweeping atmospheric depth. The record also features “The Starless Origin”, a twelve‑minute monolith that stands as the longest composition in the band’s catalogue, and “Fracture of Aeons”, which Sworn describe as their most aggressive recording to date.
To bring this vision to life, Sworn collaborated with renowned producer Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios. Bogren — known for his work with Opeth, Arch Enemy, Behemoth, and other genre‑defining acts — delivers a mix that is both polished and devastating, amplifying the performances of Max Wilson, Christoffer Kjørsvik, Gøran Hope, and Tom Ian Klungland with surgical clarity and overwhelming force.
The album’s striking visual identity comes from Pär Olofsson, whose artwork for bands such as Aborted and Kreator has become iconic within extreme metal. His contribution to Null Crowned The Infinite mirrors the album’s themes: cosmic grandeur, existential dread, and the cold beauty of annihilation.
While Sworn remain fully independent in their creative and recording process, they have partnered with The Circle Music for a special licensing deal to handle the physical editions of the album.
Null Crowned The Infinite promises to be Sworn’s most expansive and conceptually profound work — a journey through creation, destruction, and the infinite silence that binds them. Link
