From the lands of Friuli, an ancient voice rises once more. Italian pagan shamanic folk ensemble Uttern unveil their new single “Rasna”, accompanied by an official music video directed by Sergio Cinghiale. Active for a decade and composed of Denise Cannas, Sybell, Deborah Olivo, Serena Durì and Federica Capra, the all‑female collective continue their mission of reviving the spiritual and linguistic roots of pre‑Christian Europe.
Sung entirely in Etruscan, “Rasna” celebrates the ritual of food, sharing and sacred togetherness. The track stems from extensive historical research and stands as a new milestone in Uttern’s artistic journey — a journey that has long embraced forgotten languages such as Gaelic, Old Sardinian, Venetic, Ancient Greek, Proto‑Germanic and Latin. For the band, “Rasna” is not merely a song but an act of cultural restitution, rediscovering a universal value of peace, community and identity that transcends centuries.
Recorded at No Shoes Studio in Dolo (VE) with sound engineer Stefano Pivato and produced by Bruno Giraldo (also involved in the EP Mediterra), the single marks the beginning of a new creative phase. Uttern hint at forthcoming musical works that will introduce both a refined evolution in sound and a broader opening towards European audiences.
The release coincides with a major milestone: a double performance at Castlefest (1 and 2 August), Europe’s most renowned festival for fantasy and pagan culture. These shows inaugurate Uttern’s new international chapter, with additional dates in the Czech Republic and France soon to be announced.
“Rasna” speaks to the heart more than to the ears — a reminder that reconnecting with one’s roots can offer identity, belonging and meaning in an increasingly fragmented world. Through their voices, Uttern channel an ancient spirituality capable of resonating far beyond borders.
