Finnish one-man dark epic doom metal act Lord Gravehill just released a new single, "At World's End". The single is a cathartic end-of-the-world vision inspired by current world events and also the impending death of a loved one. In case you didn't know, the mastermind behind the project Lord Gravehill is Marko Hautamäki, mainly known as guitarist/composer of legendary Finnish gothic rock band Two Witches.
Marko comments about the new single: "These are not happy times we are living in. Thus they cannot be represented by writing happy music. The song channels some of my influences from early 90s when I started writing doom under name Majesty. It's very much back to the roots kind of thing for me."
On this song, there is also a guest female vocalist, Rioghan Darcy, who is at the moment one of the most rapidly rising stars of the prog metal genre. "I played cello on a few upcoming Rioghan tracks and having her sing on this song was the logical next step. She has got the perfect kind of sound for what the song required and there will be more collaborations in the future", says Marko Hautamäki.
Lord Gravehill was originally formed in 1994 under the name Majesty. It was active until 2001 and reactivated as Lord Gravehill in 2022. All old Majesty era releases will get their streaming releases during 2022 and 2023, including the previously unreleased debut album Earthbound. Link
