Finnish doom metal maverick Lord Gravehill returns with a new single, "A Seeker", which marks a slight departure from the band's previous epic, sprawling compositions, opting for a more direct and concise approach.
"A Seeker" plunges listeners into a vortex of heavy, low-slung riffs punctuated by Marko Hautamäki's trademark dark, melancholic vocal delivery. The song's intensity is tempered by a sense of introspection, reflecting the inner turmoil of a soul seeking solace and meaning in the face of life's challenges, seen through the eyes of The Fool in tarot. The song also features a part of a recording from the last seance conducted by Harry Houdini.
"I wanted to create something more straightforward, a song that would grab the listener from the very first note without losing the essence of Lord Gravehill's sound", says Hautamäki. "'A Seeker' is a reflection of my own journey, a search for something deeper, something that transcends the mundane."
Hautamäki, the sole member of Lord Gravehill, is also known for his work in the gothic rock band Two Witches and darkwave duo Chaos Research. His versatility as a musician adds a unique dimension to Lord Gravehill's sound, seamlessly blending the weight of doom metal with the atmospheric textures of gothic rock and darkwave.
With "A Seeker," Lord Gravehill ventures into uncharted territory, showcasing a fresh and dynamic side of his music. The single is a testament to Hautamäki's creative vision and ability to craft captivating melodies that resonate with listeners on a profound level.
