URKU LLANTHU & OSCURO MITO - Split Release Out Now

Urku Llanthu - Ecuador-based folk ambient/dungeon synth solo musical project of Pablo Mesías aka. Atuk Urku Llanthu and Bolivian black metal/folk ambient act Oscuro Mito have offered a split release Hatun Puna (Immense Mountain Range - translated from the Quechua dialect). Two-track Hatun Puna was released via Pablo Mesías' Takiri Producciones Independiente in digital format, and it awaits you in the player below.

The split release is accompanied by the following text: "For the ancient settlers who lived at the foot of the Andes mountains, it is the spirits of the ancestors who live in the mountains who send rain or drought, as a reward or punishment for the ritual behaviour of mortals.

Protective spirits, according to the Andean worldview, watched over the people of the territory, their livestock, crops and other reasons.

For the Andean man, each mountain has its own spirit, name and domain they protect. Thus, each region has its own protective mountain.

In ancient times, mountains were perceived as gods of war; the mountains were Apus protectors of the peoples who lived in their vicinity and who, in turn, worshipped them with rites of total mysticism, energy and power.

Therefore in this immense Cordillera, it is believed that the specialists in rituals receive their powers from the sacred mountains; only the most experienced could deal directly with the most powerful and lofty mountains in the territory. These specialists invoked the deities of the mountains to control the weather, predict the future, find lost objects, and cure diseases. But they also performed rituals in favour of the community, invoking the favour of the gods to ensure the fertility of the land and the abundance of animals.

From time immemorial to the present in the ancient Andean culture, there's a belief in shamanism and communication with the sacred mountains.

It's how the title of the split also originates 'hatun puna', where the first important dimension is the union between people and cultures, strongly amalgamated by the imposing presence of the Andes mountains, which on this occasion, represents a connection between the brother ancestral people of Bolivia and Ecuador - without being limited by the border, and sheltered more firmly between art and Andean ancestral music."
