French post-punk/dark rock duo Varsovie released a new single and video, "Perspective Nevski", as the first revealed single of the band's upcoming fifth album, Pression à froid (Eng.: under cold pressure), scheduled for release on 6 October by Icy Cold Records.
Varsovie was formed in 2005 in Grenoble (France) by Arnault Destal (drums, lyrics, music) and Grégory Catherina (vocals, guitars, music).
The Pression à froid album was recorded at Drudenhaus studio (Brittany) in January 2023. The album's visuals were created by Greek artist Sotiris Lamprou.
Wandering, in the form of a sadomasochistic relationship, around the final sentence of Nicolai Gogol's short story of the same name: "Nevsky Prospekt deceives at all hours of the day, but the worst time of all is at night [...] when the devil himself is abroad, kindling the street lamps with one purpose only: to show everything in a false light".
The song "Perspective Nevski" might also sound like a strange echo of the current geopolitical situation. Just check it out... Link
