Croatia's epic doom metal outfit Elusive God has set 9 May as the release date for its sophomore full-length, Ambis, which will come out through Personal Records in CD format.

In the very beginning and uniquely, Elusive God acted as an art collective, releasing videos for the songs "Silence Is Our Doom" and "Dream Within A Dream." Its goal was to bring darkness and mysticism back into metal music. Also, it was important to make a statement: "We are Elusive God, and we're here to play some doom-fucking-metal the way we think it's supposed to be played". The influence that makes the band's sound distinctive originates from the traditional music and melodies of the northern parts of Croatia, along with traditional music from the vast areas that range from the Carpathian Mountains to the Pannonian Plain.

In 2020, Elusive God's The Darkest Flame EP was released by Solitude Productions, largely introducing the band to the broader doom metal audience. The band's debut album, Trapped In A Future Unknown, came two years later.

In early 2024, Elusive God released a "Ples Demona" single, accompanied by a short movie. This single was a preview of its forthcoming second album, Ambis. Once again, the band decided to take a step further and refine its signature doom-metal-sound with lyrics sung in its native language. The reason for singing in the Croatian language is the greater possibility of authentic expression, given that the songs deal with personal topics. In addition, the vocal parts take on a completely different dimension depending on the language the band sings in.

There's an underlying story connecting all the lyrics on Ambis: a seriously dark aspect of personal transformation offering a great sense of grandiosity and epicness towards the end. Of course, musically, Elusive God's epic and grandiose moments are still present - an excellent contrast to the unprecedented anger, pain and aggression. For Elusive God, it's all about constantly reconnecting with what matters most - expression, art, and the story it holds - and Ambis is undoubtedly its most compelling and cohesive reconnection yet. Highly recommended for maniacs of classic Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Atlantean Kodex, DoomSword, Krux, and especially Russia's cult Scald - silence is our doom! Link
