Austrian dark post‑rock/post‑metal quartet Our Ceasing Voice return with “Wherever You Are”, the third single from their forthcoming album The Origin Of Everything, set for release on 2 October via Argonauta Records.

Following the earlier singles “Diamond Eyes” (over HERE) and “The Man You Wanted Me To Be” (over HERE), this new track unveils perhaps the most vulnerable and personal facet of the band to date. “Wherever You Are” was written in the wake of a devastating loss, becoming a meditation on grief, guilt, and the long, painful journey toward forgiveness.

Vocalist Dominik Dörfler reflects on the song’s origins: “When I lost an especially close friend in 2005, something inside me broke and has still not healed to this day, leaving a huge void.” For years, Dörfler carried the belief that he could have prevented the tragedy—a weight that grew increasingly suffocating. “This feeling haunted me for so many years and prevented me, in every way, from coming to terms with it.”

It wasn’t until 2019, fourteen years after the loss, that Dörfler finally sat at the piano and wrote “Wherever You Are”. The composition remained untouched for a long time, almost too painful to revisit, until the band returned to it during the creation of The Origin Of Everything. Reworking the song became part of a deeply personal process of healing.

“Working on it helped me cope with this loss, see it in a different light, replace anger with a kind of forgiveness toward myself, and immortalize the memory of a beautiful person.”

This emotional transformation lies at the core of The Origin Of Everything. While the album explores identity, belonging, memory, and the forces that shape who we become, “Wherever You Are” confronts the past directly—turning grief into remembrance and regret into acceptance.

Musically, the single highlights the band’s ability to shift between fragile intimacy and expansive post‑rock intensity, creating a space where melancholy and catharsis coexist. It offers another powerful glimpse into an album that sees Our Ceasing Voice expanding their sonic palette while preserving the emotional depth that has defined them since forming in Innsbruck in 2006.
